Here are 5 key differences between Professional Coaches & Amateur trainers.
“Professional Coaches are:
Educated.
Macro perspective focused.
Results oriented.
Impact driven.
Making a living.
Amateur trainers:
Tain for the ‘gram.
Focus on today alone.
Make false claims about results.
Are clout driven.
Steal short money.”

There isn’t a field on earth where it easier to be an imposter than it is to be in the field of strength & conditioning or what the gurus refer to it as, “performance” training.
It is quite literally the wild west, for no other reason than the consumers don’t know right from wrong or what to look for.
There is no governing body in our field, so this allows anybody to call themselves a “coach”, making them eligible to start “training” athletes, tomorrow.
Goodness are they thankful that the masses aren’t willing to do their homework. As long as the IG video montage is fye and the music is loud, we’re “grindin”.
And it’s not just Jimmy’s dad or Sarah’s mom who is being duped.
Many of your favorite Pro Athletes are being horrendously duped every single offseason.
Queue the Derrick Henry training videos.
(No, it doesn’t matter that Derrick Henry is being duped, because he would still be Derrick Henry, but the point remains valid.)
Despite it all looking the same to the untrained eye, there are a few distinct differences that differentiate the Pro from the Bro.
The Pro is Educated, coaching is serious business to him and he prioritizes being a forever student.
The Bro knows you aren’t going to question his education so instead he focuses on making the flashy videos you see on Instagram. (Garbage.)
The Pro understands the importance of the day-to-day, but has a long term, macro vision. It’s because he understands that training is about setting today up to succeed tomorrow.
The Bro is living for today. He doesn’t have a system. He’s prescribing stand-alone workouts that don’t compound.
The Pro focuses on real, tangible results. He can prove them with data.
The Bro has no validity. He has no way to prove what he’s doing is working, just keep shuffling through those ladders.
The Pro is doing this because of his selfless desire to positively impact others.
The Bro is me-centric. “Look at me. Look what I do.” Loser city.
The Pro knows his value. He knows his craft. He’s a Pro. He’s making a living.
The Bro is riding short waves. He knows it’s a scam, so he’s just duping you while he can.
