The idea of acting on a vision scares the hell out of normal people.
“Purpose-Driven People are a different breed.
I never understood why most will never understand or support your vision.
I learned it’s because most don’t have a vision and can’t even support themselves.
The idea of acting on a vision scares the hell out of normal people.”
-Ray Zingler on Twitter
Why is it that people in your own town, neighborhood, and even sometimes your own family don’t support you or your mission?
However, those same people are quick to support A-list celebrities who they’ll never meet. Celebrities who will never know as much as their names, much less have tangible impact on their community or lives?
I’ll tell you why.
It’s because those celebrities are living in a fantasy world that people in your own backyard are so far removed from. It’s easy to support them because they aren’t on the same wavelength. They’re not “real” like you and I are.
As you funnel down the perceived chain of status, the support gets smaller and smaller, the closer we get to reality. This is because when people see people who are “just like them” living a purpose fueled life, jealousy takes root.
They view their neighbors action-oriented lives as a threat to their own success and well-being and falsely believe “because they are doing it” that it is somehow stealing from their own personal ability to create success for themselves.
When in reality, this couldn’t be any further from the truth.
We live in a world of abundance.
An abundance of choice, an abundance of chance, an abundance of opportunity, however because those abundances require effort, and most people hate effort, they CHOOSE to live with a scarcity mindset. They choose to believe there isn’t enough.
This is exactly why small thinkers don’t support their neighbors who are on big missions.
Honestly think about it.
How the hell can you expect the average Joe to see your vision and support your vision?
They, themselves don’t have any vision and they can’t even support themselves. How the hell are they going to support you?
But those living action-oriented lives with a centralized focus? You think they’ll not support you or cut you down? No chance.
They are on the same wavelength. They understand just as misery loves company, so does positivity.
I’m a small business owner in North Georgia who intentionally pours into my community every day of my life. I have people in my own backyard, people who know my name, people I went to school with who begrudgidly won’t support me (I couldn’t attempt to care).
However, I have growth-oriented people in England sending me supportive messages? People thousands of miles away who have never met me in real life? Writing me paragraphs full of kindness and gratitude for my impact on their life?
It can feel like a lonely world if you’re on a mission, but never let small minded people impact your journey.
You’re holding the light they want, but don’t have the capacity to create.
