But even in the dog eat dog world, ethics still win in the end.
“I sell training everyday.
Want to know what I ‘push’?
Not the package that is most financially beneficial to myself.
But the package that delivers the most value via the most effective dose.
Why?
Because it’s not about my pockets.
It’s about their sustainability & progress.”
-Ray Zingler on X
2 sessions per week, 8 sessions per month, 12 months per year, for 6 years.
That’s 576 training sessions an athlete would receive if he or she trained 8x a month, year round, from 7th grade to HS graduation.
I have several who have followed this path and the athletic performance results have been astounding, but far more important than their athletic performance, what this type of (what simple, but deemed “unreasonable” by the masses) discipline does to these humans far exceeds the weight room.
These kids have become monsters in the real world.
Highly successful in their professional careers.
Community leaders.
Killer husbands, wives, and now, showing my age, fathers and mothers, too.
Think about the value that can be provided by training (better said, “committing to discipline”) a measly 26% of the days of the year.
Again, the results are literally earth shattering in the weight room and beyond it.
You know I could be like every other skeez bag in the industry and focus on only selling our highest package offerings.
I could work on creating “discounts” for long term commitments by locking people in for 3, 6, and 12 months at a time. (Pro Tip: when you buy training at a discounted rate for a year in advance the quality of training you get is discounted down significantly further. And typically speaking the folks who sell these types of training packages usually aren’t very good to begin with.)
But I don’t do that for several reasons.
At Zingler Strength we use a consumer-centric model.
“How can I give our clients the biggest bang for THEIR buck?”
And for most youth athletes I have found a steady and consistent dose of 8 sessions per month to be the sweet spot.
It’s a repeatable number for anyone at any given time of the year and it allows for the continual compounding of results.
Do we have people who buy our bigger, “unlimited” packages? Of course. Tons.
But it’s typically after our staff has proven the value of our program with inarguable results, usually with less.
When you do things ethically, the right way, for the right reasons, it attracts the right people.
Encourage what’s best for people.
It always comes back tenfold.
