Forgive All The Time. Do Right. Maintain Poise In Times Of Trial & Tribulation.

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

“‘Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it’s a permanent attitude.’

‘The time is always ripe to do right.’

‘The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.’

-MLK Jr”

Every year that passes, I believe we get further and further away from prioritizing history and historical figures.

I’m not a betting man, but if I were, I’d bet that most of our kids only know MLK as the “I have a dream” guy and “a day that we get off school.”

While he was the “I have a dream” guy and our kids do get off school, he was much more than that as a political philosopher and civil rights activist.

“Oh my goodness, did he say civil rights activist? #woke”

And for the sad, small-minded people who are triggered by terms like, “civil rights”, I will share another quote, since I am on the quote train today.

And this one is from country music star, Tyler Childers:

“Now, what would you give if you heard my opinion conjecturin’ on matters that I ain’t never dreamed? In all my born day’s as a white boy from Hickman, based on the way the worlds been to me..”

We tend to think of our reality as “true reality” when in reality, “our reality” is only our perception of reality based on our circumstances and our severely limited lens of global perspective.

The 3 quotes I share from Martin Luther King Jr. are 3 of my favorites from him and I think they apply to all people all the time.

To summarize them in one sentence:

Forgive all the time, do right, and maintain poise in times of trial and tribulation.

I’m not nearly the philosopher MLK Jr. was, but I firmly believe if we were all to live compassionate lives rooted in forgiveness, moral behavior, and steadfastness, our world would be a better place.

“Come on Ray, that’s a pipe dream, our world is broken!”

Yes, I know this, our world is broken because we have glorified sin.

Just scroll down to the posts below this for a second or two and you’ll see how we’ve accepted the sexualization of females and males boasting with material items as they are rooted in pride and ego.

But what if you and I made a personal choice to live by those 3 standards shared by MLK Jr.?

Our world would be a better place.

Forgive. Do Right. Be Strong.
