Complaining About The State Of The World Does Nothing To Improve It

Step into the arena and be a speck of light the world so desperately needs.

Step into the arena and be a speck of light the world so desperately needs.

“You can sit around and complain about the state of the world or you can view its brokenness as an opportunity to emerge as a servant leader the world desperately needs.

The former is far easier than the ladder and will come with far fewer stones thrown, but it’s way less valuable.”

-Ray Zingler on Twitter

There is an ancient proverb you’ve likely heard some rendition of:

“One man’s misfortune is another man’s opportunity.”

You can choose to interpret it how you want, but regardless, the sentiment is clear:

Self-awareness and perception are critical constructs.

I look at the state of our world.

It’s a Godless, broken, indebted mess that lacks leadership from the top and has a trickle affect all the way down.

Now I could sit on here and rant about how messed up things are, how far gone we are, and share all my political opinions on how they’re wrong and I’m right.

But what does that do?

Does that actively change the state of the world?

To make it more relatable,
“Does that actively change the nature of the small community that I live in?”

The answer is no. It doesn’t.

In fact, if all that I do is bitch about the current state of the world and how jacked up it is and don’t actively do anything to change it, I’m in favor of the current state.

You can think what you want to think, say what you want to say, and you can post what you want to post, but inaction will forever be a vote for the opposition.

For this reason, I choose to acknowledge the reality that is the broken world we live in, but I am going to use this truth as an opportunity.

An opportunity to contribute to the light this world so desperately needs.

Even if I can only provide a speck, a speck is better than darkness.

And then I ask myself, what if my speck can encourage another to be a speck? And what if their skills, talents, and abilities exceed mine and travel far greater than mine and THEY inspire larger groups of specks?

All of the sudden we would start to see a glimmer of real light, wouldn’t we?

But it’s hard, right?

It’s much easier to live in our own echo chamber on the sidelines. It’s much harder to step into arena of change.

When you step into the fight, you’ll feel as if you’re living on an island. And you are. It’s because stone’s don’t feel good, but recognize this:

It’s an island of change the world desperately needs.

Live the code.
